Feminism and masculism are two sides of the same coin. Are feminists basically anti-masculists? Are those who have been branded as "anti-feminist" and/or "misogynists" are actually just "masculist" and that many so called "feminists" are actually "anti-masculist" and "misandrists"?

Does anyone think the distinction is kind of silly anyway?

And how about this? What if the "traditional role of women" is overhyped as being "oppressive" and the "traditional role of men" is overhyped as being free and dominant? What if these supposedly "traditional male-instituted roles" were in fact established by women? It seems quite likely.

I had intended to extend my point about feminism and masculism as being two sides of the same coin. They are like rivals or competitors. Perhaps they are like Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola, each chasing the same market.

I'm not anti-masculinist. I do think men have issues that are unique to men that need to be addressed and I understand the need for men to come together to address those issues. The problems I have with masculinists on this forum is that they tend to want to blame women and feminism for the issues that they have, instead of looking at other more legitimate causal factors such as defects in the legal system, the state of the economy, refusal to accept changes pertaining to social roles of women in general, and perhaps their own lack of action in taking the initiative to solving issues that pertain to men.

I think you are absolutely right...feminists and masculinists are chasing the same goal: equality. And both, in my opinion, would be better off shifting the focus away from blaming each other and focusing more directly on solving the actual issues at hand. We're not going to turn back the clock. Women are not all of a sudden going to decide that we like the way things were 100 years ago and go back to that. If we could somehow get people to understand that times have changed and that humanity is evolving, perhaps those who cling to the past will come to understand that that door is closed- a new one has opened, and we (men and women) can step through this door together...not fighting over who's going to "hold it open" for whom...(please forgive the weak attempt at humor here.)

The word "anti-feminist" is probably being applied too liberally. If masculists make it clear that they appreciate women and feminists who are actually serious about equality, they'll lose that label.

No, feminists are Anti-Anti-feminism. (lol)

The problem occurs when masculist groups call themselves anti-feminists.

Masculist: Believes in equal rights for men, and women.
Feminist: Believes that men should be extinct.
