So far, there is not a truly blue rose. Most of them have hints of blue, but mostly lavendar. There is word of a bluer variety from Japan, but I don't believe it is in commerce yet, or if it is, it will be hard to get, and expensive. The blue rose has been the Holy Grail of rose hybridizers for years, and sooner or later, it will happen. Here is a web site with some roses with blue names for you to look at, some of them are more blue than others. Weeks Roses has one listed also, you might find it in their internet catalog.

There is no such thing as a blue rose. You can buy blue roses, but they have been dyed by growers who grow the plant in soil that contains chemicals that change the colour. Some florist shops can order blue roses for you, however you may have to buy a whole package because there is so little demand for them and the rest would be wasted. At the flower shop where I work, a customer is obliged to buy a package of 20 blue roses, even if he or she needs only one. Expect to pay about $2-3 more per rose than you would for a natural-coloured rose. A second option is to ask your florist to spray paint an open white rose for you, but with this method, the colour would be uneven as the petals open and the paint could damage the flower.... third choice; buy a silk rose.

The link given above to interrose is a bit misleading. It says that there is not a commercially available blue rose yet, but you can order one in case they do come up with one. I know that about ten years ago scientists put a gene that produces a blue pigment in flowers into the rose. The pigment was produced in the rose, but due to the pH of the rose cells the pigment was red. So far I have not heard of a true blue rose.

Well, as of yet there is no true blue rose. Any cut rose you find in the market will have been dyed. As for a rose bush, the closest you will get is a mauve color that has a bluish hue. Blue Girl is about the bluest you can get for now. However, they are in the near future. There is a breeder who has developed several bluish roses that are very close to a true blue, but they will not be on the market years.

Yes, actually there is such a thing. They are very rare, so if u find where to get one its going to be expensive.

I believe it has somethign to do with climate, water, and some ppl actaully put blue dye in a roses water to make it turn blue.

But trust me, there are actualy natural blue roses.

I have a "blue" rose called Blue Moon. It is a climber and has climbed to be as tall as me since I planted it bare-rooted in August. The flower is actually a light purple but it fades to blue. Smells nice too.

Blue roses traditionally signify mystery or attaining the impossible. They are believed to be able to grant the owner youth or grant wishes. This symbolism derives from the rose's meaning in the language of flowers common in Victorian times.

Nope . "Blue" = Lavender , when it comes to roses . For cut roses, you can put white roses in blue dye . They'll suck the dye into the flower. Or you can paint them, but that shortens their vase life.
