Hi. They are usually custom designed to fit in the laptop. Better to get a USB based floppy.

An external 3" floppy drive that will take both HD and MF disc cost between 40 and $60.99 dollars at Best buy depending on if you catch them on sale or not.. Just bought the other day there. It works off you USB port.
Their internal disc is on sale for around $10.00 but you can only use HD disc with it. Don't know if will fit in you lap top either.

External USB floppy drive is anywhere from $20-$50. Try Fry's if there's one near you.

Hey, you said floppy drive. They are very cheap. The thing is that thanks to your question, I've realized that i had a floppy drive in my CPU. i think i never used it since i bought my PC.
I tried a search, not much on laptop floppy drives. Maybe you should get an external floppy drive

You can get a USB floppy for around $20-$30 US.

First internal or external???
Second which brand as internal makes a difference.
Each mfr of the internal drives makes proprietary mountings and connectors. The drive itself will be one price but with the connector part it makes a big difference. They used to be around $80 and the internal for a desktop used to be $50. Today a desktop one is under $25 (internal) but laptops units are quite a bit more.
Shop around.
