It will run for a few minutes then quits, after a while it will start up again then die. I have drained the fuel and this didnt help, any ideas

Have you changed the fuel filter? Sounds like spark isn't the issue so I would look at the fuel system.

Could be a bad coil.
Symptoms of a bad coil - when cool, it'll work fine - when it warms up to a certain temperature, it quits - coll down a bit and it works again.
Have a working plug handy.
When it stops running, check for spark.
Pull off the spark plug cap.
Insert the good plug into the cap.
Lay the threads of the plug against the engine and try to start it - the spark plug should fire.
