I would have said opening our homes for my grandsons' team mate that came home with him from college. Alex is from Australia, and was unable to make it home in the short time that the coach allowed them to be gone. Well, that ended up being our gift! He was gracious, funny and most importantly he fit right in with our crazy clan. I thought of you and Gaz every time he was talking! We gave the boys some money to hit the mall, because there is no mall close to them in their college town. The darlings spent it right back on us. Now we are missing two boys. He is definately family now! I just got off the phone with the both of them. He calls me Mimi, just like all my grandkids.

My oldest has fallen in love with her laptop..my baby girl loved the Coffee table book about Italy (she travelled there in June) and she also was impressed by "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" (She's an English Major)
Amazing what I managed to find on that bargain table at Barnes and Noble.
I have been told that the best was the time I spent making a phone call. The jury is still out on that one, in my opinion.

For my father, I took my his Army photo - the one that had his whole Company at Ft. Meade (1950 Korean War era) and had it restored and mounted in a frame with a slate mat and museum glass that will protect the photo from deteriorating more.

I gave my Mom her first digital camera, Her regular camera that she had for years played out, and she had resorted to using throw away cameras. It felt so good to give that gift to her, she deserved it!

Probably the gold necklace I gave my mom......it had a gold charm/medallion that had a photo of my dad engraved on it.
(He died in June, so I knew it would be a very special gift to her.)
