No. If that ever does happen, China is going to have to be changed radically. Transitioning to democracy, for example. It's not just China that is rising. India is right there behind them, and so is the rest of Asia. The Middle East is developing. Even Africa is showing signs of progress. South America and Europe are uniting. And of course there's America, which, will always be a world leader. I think it's more likely that the future will be a multipolar world (dominated by multiple superpowers).

'Must' is an interesting word. If it means "should" or 'ought to' or "deserves to be", then the answer is no.
If 'must' means 'will be' or 'is inevitable to be', then that's another story. China has enormous power and most of us in the west don't realize that.
One of the advantages China has in the world is their huge population and that they have no need for 'messy' things like human rights. They can put everyone in the military and none of the citizens can do anything about it. The term 'cannon fodder' is apt.
As well, Chinese values support the whole, not the individual so people are more likely to follow what their leaders tell them.
I think there is a real possibility that China could be the leader of the world in the future. And I don't think that is a good thing.

If you are predicting that China may well be the strongest force in tears to come then you may well be correct. It has a huge population and its economy is expanding at a fast rate. If the West fails to combat or compete with the expansion then slowly but surely enonomic wealth will be concentrated in the East and China could replace the USA as the strongest economy on Earth.

leader in what field of endeavor? China has the potential to impact the world. their leadership is smart and eager to explore new ways to accomplish objectives. on the negative side, their oppression based control of such a large mass of humanity must evolve or lead to turmoil.

Absolutely not. I believe some Westernization is necessary for any country to succeed. There is nothing to indicate any real leadership internationally on the part of India, China, Russia, Indonesia and other countries.

They dont have the same purist policies against things like Stem Cell research and human cloning, and any other bio-tech related restrictions that will put the USA in the dark ages if China discovers ways to enhance their human potential.
Also, remember, they restrict religion so there is no theocratic influence. They will eventually achieve world domination someday.

Probably yes.
They will change their present stance, and go for hearts and minds; coupled with shear numbers and willingness to succeed, I feel within the next 20 to 50 years.
It is the natural order of things, that Countries rise top ascendancy, then decay from within.
