This is an unusual situation. My ex is 60 and I'm 41. We have 3 children together. He currently lives with us in the basement. I have to move on because we are outgrowing our house. I was thinking of letting him move in with me again due to the fact that 1) he has to have a knee replacement operation and recovery is very difficult and long! 2) my kids have grown used to him being around, esp. my youngest and they would miss him 3) we can't really afford to live separately. I am working full time he's on disability and I can't pay someone to take care of the kids after school.
With all this being said the fact of the matter is that my ex and I can't stand each other. We will NEVER get back together. I have been seeing someone for 4 years now and I can't seem to move on due to my situation. My ex hates this person immensely and doesn't want him around my kids. He's very controlling. I feel guilty though, if I don't help him out after all we've been through. Please help!! Thank you!

He's 60 years old and still can't take care of himself. Don't let him back in. Tell him to find a needy person, they'll be a match made in Heaven.

I'd look for a place you can afford and see if your ex will watch the kids for you. They can enjoy being with him and you won't have to have him living so close.
