No. It's the end of a Baktun in the Mayan Long Count calendar, but there are dates in inscriptions thousands of years after that. Also, what are the chances of a planet or the Galaxy which have both been here billions of years ending in our lifetimes? Millions to one.

December 21st 2012? Oh, yes! My prediction is that this far far away day the newspaper will come a little later. My dog won´t be barking, (he never does ), planes will be flying, there will be a lot of traffic, tv stations will be broadcasting news, McDonald's will be open. But talking about the galaxy ..it will be well.

ya didn,t you know that ? actually its suppose to be a massive solar flare, that will knock out all electrical power for 3 wks, called a E
electrical magnetic pulse, so you had better bone up on how to survive in the rought, like camping in the primitive area,

What will happen is that we won't have to keep hearing at least this particular idiotic question any more.
And the word is *Mayans*!

no but it will be the beginning of something new. The world will not end as we know it but I believe we will be aware of and on a higher level of understanding. I am totally looking forward to that day.

That's what I hear. And who knows, could just be the end of life as WE know it. Doesn't mean the world will acually END.
