I bought some UV lamp, and it says 7%+ UVB and upto 15% UVA. What is that supposed to mean?

The big question is a percentage of what? UVB yes - but the UVB as compared to what? The other bulbs on the market? The sun in the morning? The sun in the afternoon? As it was told to me once - the percentage implies the percentage of the sun equal to that at the equator midday. Whether this is accurate or not - I still rely on my UVB meter to measure the emissions coming from the bulbs.

A rule of thumb - for heavy baskers such as iguanas, basilisks, water dragons, bearded dragons, anoles, turtles/torts, etc - you want a 5.0 or better. For low-level baskers such as chameleons you want no higher than a 2.0.

The % is percent of UVB
