The needle doesnt say my actual speed and it keeps going crazy. Its on a 1975 plymouth duster 225 if you need to know.

Its a brand new cable i just installed it

you probably have a cable messed up. take it to the shop. or it may just need adjusted==

This model has a metal drive system. It needs periodic lubrication. Position your self so you can remove the cable from the rear of the speedometer.
Push the clip holding the cable housing away from the housing, so as to be able to pull it toward the front of the car.
Once free you should be able to pull the inner core out of the housing. Examine it for broken wires and wear.
If any doubt, go to a distributor of parts and get a complete cable kit.
If the assemble looks serviceable, use chassis lube and thoroughly coat the cable as you push and rotate the cable going back into the housing. Push the housing into place on the rear of the speedometer until it clicks, then rock it gently to seat the lock.
Make sure the cable end goes into the square reciever, not beside it.

It's either the speedometer head, the cable, or the drive gear in the transmission. If you don't know how to diagnose it you'll have to find a mechanic. Too much cash to just start throwing parts at it.

Strands of wire in your speedometer cable are broken.You need to replace your cable,it's an easy fix.
