The curb along the roadway, should be close to parallel. I suppose if you were putting in a new road, you would want everything straight.

How about when building a frame structure, like a house.
If you are building the angled portion of a rood, you need to make sure that the cross members are symmetrical.

In your race car, the path from front tire to back should be parallel on both sides.

I'm sure there are hundreds more...

Anywhere. Just have to know what makes it parallel, its the distance between 2 lines that are always the same no matter how long they are....... Cheers.

parallel lines are everywhere. a table is made up of two sets of parallel lines.
