Who likes alcohol more: MEN OR WOMEN?

I find this very shocking but Im seeing that women love alcohol way more then men and love getting drunk more then men. I couldnt believe this. When im on yahoo answers by what im reading its almost always the woman thats crazy about alcohol. Which is true

I always thought men were the big drinkers.

In India, I see that a very very small percentage of women folk indulge in drinking.I guess it is not more than 2 or 3 percent of the men.In rural areas,women have even formed teams and groups to combat the liquor menace. They attack illegal vendors as also the men who drink liquor.The government has too agreed ,not to give permits/license to liquor vendors in such villages where at least 50 % of women have signed petition that there should be no such shop in their village.The group keeps a close watch on men coming drunk from other villages.Such men are given a good thrashing by this group and prohibited from entering the village.

Last time I saw statistics on the subject, men were more likely to be alcoholic. Now that is a faulty statistic, because men are more likely to get rowdy and into trouble when they drank. That means they're much more likely to go to court and end up being diagnosed as alcoholic. Women, traditionally could keep their drinking more in the background, and so often were not diagnosed unless it became a serious health problem for them. In recent generations I think it's considered more acceptable for women to drink, and to drink too much. So, it would be interesting to see how the statistics might have changed changed over the years. All this to say, I don't know.

i think it is an equal battle. but i also think this is a dumb question, because in all reality, who cares who loves it more? whoever loves alcohol will soon truley LOVE it and will then have a major problem and i think we have enough alcoholics in this world already. its not a good way to bring children up in a alcoholic home, although some parents dont see the effects that it has on the children in the future. not saying its the same way for everyones case. i was raised in a home based on alcohol. now, my 15 year old brother thinks its "cool" to drink, and my 9 year old sister is heartbroken bc my father is now in love and spends more time drinking and doing other things that he "forgot" she exist. literally. this is awful realization for this world. why cant we all just be sober.
