I know... I've never heard of Noah/Noa for a girl, I just was thinking about it and decided I liked it. There might be others, but I would be fine with being the first!

Also, my sister's name in Ingrid... she hated her name when she was little because it wasn't common, but now she loves it for the same reason! We're Scandinavian, so I'm partial to this version of many names.

Oh and "Amalie" is a Scandinavian version of "Emily" .. I like it better :) It is pronounced differently, too.

I don't think any of them are bad names. I hate that people seem to think its perfectly okay to badmouth other people's choices for their baby's name, anyway. When my neice was named Kaitlyn (gag), I didn't say a word, although I felt sorry for the little girl who would forever have to individuate herself by using her last initial...

But when I made the decision I made on names, and foolishly said something about them, everyone started in on why they were bad names, etc etc.

Hey, its your child - you get naming rights, that's part of the bargain. Your name choices are beautiful - some are not names I would choose, but it doesn't matter - people have different preferences for names. Besides, by the time the child is a year old, the name you choose will fit perfectly, and you won't be able to imagine him/her with any other name....

Also, being a teacher, I have to say that people are far more likely to say kids will tease a child because of his given name than the chance that teasing will actually ever happen. Most kids today take unique/unusual names in stride because it is not really all that uncommon to have an "unusual" name. Kids don't get teased because of their name, they get teased because of their personality (or rather, because of a lack of emotional/social savviness) The best way to protect a child against teasing is to teach him/her to be a strong, caring individual - to hold their heads up high, and to respect themselves and others.

Well when I read your question I thought the names you had picked out were going to be bizarre or something but really the only one I think is a little weird is Noah for a girl...mostly because I think of that as a boy name (as most people probably would). Otherwise the names are very lovely.

Those names are not wierd at all! Are these people all named John and Mary or what?? Noah for a girl is a bit unusual, but more boys names are being used for girls now. I would go with "Noa" instead of "Noah" for a girl. I know a girl named "Asa" and once you get used to it's beautiful. Pick a name you like and they'll adapt!

I like some of those choices. Let me do a run through, I love the first name for a girl and the nickname that goes along wiith it...it really sounds to me like a doll's name. The second I do not think is anything special and it is also old fashioned...that being said, noah, I think is nice for a girl, but too plain for my tastes for a boy. I even knew a girl who spelled it Noahh. I don't think Veronica is great nor uncommon, and I simply don't like Amelie because I don't even like Emily...but that spelling does grow on me as a nice and interesting name. Here are some suggested alternatives for the ones I dont like: INstead of Peony, how about Paulina, Petula, or Peyton. Valeria, Valette, Vesna or victoria instead of veronica (you can call her tori which is uncommon), and I like Amelie but I also like Avalee.

I love Sebastian, and Samuel is classic but not uncommon. Noah is too plain...but Nolen is beautiful! I don't know why but I despise Jonah..how about Judah and Jude for short? Way different, uncommon and really nice.

I think that they are all very beautiful. I just read yesterday that Miley Cyrus's little sisters name is Noah, so I suppose it could work for a girl. I also know a woman named Penny. I really like Amalie and Samuel. They are my favorites.

I like the girls name Belle, short for Isabelle.
Penny or Pennie, its alright, original.
Noah i think would be better for a boy
Veronica just makes me think of a high class snob, sorry..
Amalie i dont even know how to pronounce that and i dont think a lot of people will be able to either.

For a boy Sebastien is different, thats really all i have to say about that one..Samuel is cute, may get different sorts of nicknames like sammy or sam..Noah is very sweet, but like i said only for a boy. and Jonah i like, i think its a very nice name :)

good luck :)

I love unusual names. I came from a family of very strange names and I keep that tradition alive in my kids. My mom's name is Arabella and I have sisters named Cordelia, Bella, Ophelia, Tiadora, and then there's me, Valeria. I have twins daughters named Ardis and Avia.

I really like the name Belle and Noah. And for the guys Noah.
