GrapeFRUIT seed extract (GSE). 10 drops in 6 oz of water, gargle and swallow. It tastes pretty strong, so have some grapefruit juice, pineapple juice or other strong drink to chase it with. It is also what we use instead of prescription antibiotics, since son is allergic to those. It helps with viruses, fungus, bacteria and yeast issues.
Mullein tea - good for anything respiratory. Steep 5-8 minutes and drink hot (with honey). It is not a strongly flavored tea. Everyone here likes the taste very well.
Add HONEY to hot tea. Honey is great for illness. You can even take a teaspoon straight if you want. Best is local honey.
Other good teas - peppermint, lemon, ginger (though ginger is more notable for its digestive aid -stomach problems)
Garlic - garlic is great antibacterial and health promoter. We make it into a butter with 1 tbsp butter, 1 clove crushed garlic. Spread on bread and grill (don't toast, could ignite) or add it to our favorite pasta. You can also crush garlic into a bit of olive oil and toss with your favorite greens.
Apple cider vinegar. We take at the onset of any illness, and it usually gets no further. 1 tsp in a glass of apple juice is the most palatable method of taking it. You can take more than 1 tsp though - my daughter had a half a glass with supper one night when feeling ill - just ACV - ick. She did feel better after though!
Add 500 mg of Vit C 2x daily - it is antiviral and will help. Make sure you take it separately. C is a water soluble vitamin and the body will excrete what it doesn't use. Hence, more than once a day. Usually morning and evening is what we do.
ELIMINATE all refined sugars as sugar is an immune suppressant and will make your body have to work harder to get well. We found that many illnesses are actually brought on by sugar overdose, especially flu or colds. Pay attention the week after Halloween and you will note this also. ;-)
Hope you are felling better soon.
If you can't find the GSE and Mullein at your local health food store, they sell them online at http://www.iherb.com (not affiliated, just where I get it - good prices, great service).

Theres not actually any cures for cold but you CAN prevent yourself from getting one. I used to suffer with cold all the time and ive always been a healthy person however I STILL had colds wether it was a winter cold or summer cold. That was until three years ago and since then ive not had a cold. Ive actually forgotten what it feels like Lol. Its quite simple actually.
Start today (wether you already have a cold or not) taking Vitamin C and Zinc tablets. They can be brought easliy from either a health store or a local supermarket.
Vitamin C is one of the most important anti-oxidant. It is important to know that Vitamin C is not produced by the body, so it is necessary to take a huge amount of it. When people age their natural Vitamin C level decreases, so as you get older you should take a higher dose of vitamin C to prevent this decrease. The white blood cells which defend our body against bad elements, like bacterial invasion, needs a huge amount of vitamin C to do its work. If the defense system of the body is not in good condition it will not do its work to defend our body from the enemies, the result of that is an illness like a cold and infection. It supports your immune system to fight away these viruses.
Zinc is an essential mineral that is found in every cell in our body. It stimulates the activity of about 100 enzymes, substances that promote biochemical reactions in your body. Among its many functions, zinc helps maintain a healthy immune system, fights off colds and viruses and is needed for wound healing, helps maintain your sense of taste and smell, and is needed for DNA synthesis.

My grandma ALWAYS made this for me. Go the store and buy 1 big chunk of ginger. Make sure it is really firm, no soft or bruised spots. You don't have to peel it. Just chop it into slices (like 1/4inch thick). Put it in a small pot with a can of coke or pepsi (cola works best) and a spoon full of sugar. Heat this on low (it will simmer just a little) until it gets to be kind of like a syrup. You can start it on like med-high heat, just remember to turn it down! It should take like 30-45mins. If you want it thicker then heat it longer with a little more sugar. When it is ready just pour the liquid (take out the chunks) in a small jar or other glass container and store it in the fridge. Every time you cough or throat hurts too bad, take a good sip. You can't overdose so drink up! It doesn't taste GREAT but its really not that bad. Your throat should feel better and cold should be gone in a couple days at MOST.

Drink lots of orange juice
Eat chicken soup
echineachea, goldenseal, zinc, and vitamin C
echineachea and goldenseal should only be taken 2 weeks then two week break. If still sick you can take again for up to a couple more weeks.
When I feel like I am just starting to get a sore throat or congestion I take Nyquil right before falling asleep and then I wake up feeling totally better.

because there are a great many rhino viruses out there that cause cold symptoms, there is no cure. I have found effective treatment for a cold however, in Zicam nasal swabs. Zicam is a homeopathic remedy and really does work to reduce symptoms and shorten the duration of a cold, follow package instructions.

My sister swears by oil of oregano (in gel pills from the health food store). She says it will kill anything. Of course, you have to restart your stomach bacteria afterwards...
