I would suggest NewEgg or CyberPowerPC. NewEgg is great because you can read reviews from other people who have purchased the same items, and find out what they liked or hated, once they opened the box.

The main advantage of a regular store is you have someplace to take it back, if you run into any problems, like the battery not charging properly or a DVD drive that needs replacing etc. If that's important to you, head to Best Buy or your local computer store. But you pay a little more for that convenience.

Hit the Pawn shop only if you want Prop Joe to make an offer you can't refuse, yo :)

Pawn shops are no longer a bargain and there is no guarentee that the laptop is in good working condition and virus free. Internet is ok if it is a dealer in laptops. I would by one from a store as you can see close up what you are getting. On the other hand if you know someone who repairs and sells used ones, That is where i go. I have a very reliable computer man nearby and his prices are so reasonable.

I own three laptops, and I have purchased all of them from a regular store. I like to look at what's out there, and I've been able to negotiate free extras, like a laptop case, and I've been able to get discounts on software too. I got a huge discount on the laptop I'm on right now because it was the last one in the store and they were trying to get rid of it because the new model just came in.

I would suggest getting a laptop from the distributor's web site, so that you know you will be guaranteed their warranty and if you want to you can customize the laptop more easily, plus it is usually cheaper than getting it from a store because the store also wants a profit.

Check out www.newegg.com

I'm a computer geek and that's where I buy EVERYTHING electronic. I build computers as a hobby and newegg has great prices and super fast shipping.. Also, it's tax free and shipping is relatively cheap.

i would buy it at a local store. you will be able to see and touch it before you buy. there is no chance of it getting lost or broken in the delivery. if it is broken you can take it back. if its broken they may be able to fix it while under warranty and you wont have to ship it off.

NOT A PAWN SHOP!!!!!!!! If your going to buy it from the internet, go to bestbuy.com, walmart.com, dell.com, gateway.com, hp.com, etc. Otherwise, buy it from a store.
