It has to be a parasitic amoeba like Entamoeba histolytica.
The cysts which are released through the faeces of infected person are transferred through food and water and enter the intestine to start fresh life cycle. Several agents can transfer this including the house flies.

Amoeba can transfer from person to person via saliva and other bodily fluids. They have short legs, so they can jump from person to person, but only if they are 2 or 3 inches apart.

There are amoebc diseases that can pass between people. Usually these are passed in water supplies.
