Especially a powdered mix that has an acidophilus product in it?

the expiration date on any acidophilus product is key, those little bacteria do not live forever, they need a warm moist environment to grow...refridgeration just serves to slow them down a bit, but there is a date past which those bacteria will die, so pay attention to that.

Here's something to realize....

In GENERAL.. the efficacy of supplements (such that they are) holds for a very long time under appropriate storage conditions. Many expiration dates are meant as a marketing ploy to force you to continue to buy more product.

There are some pharma formulations, however, that do change over time, especially when exposed to light, etc.

I don't know the answer specifically for acidophilus... but my gut tells me that you are likely fine for a year or more past the expiration date so long as it has been stored according to directions. It's a probiotic, so storage in the fridge is best.

A pharmacist can answer that question better than anyone else. Pharmacists are SO smart, kind and helpful. You can look up "Pharmacies" in the Yellow Pages. :)
