The Democrats won a majority in both houses in 2006, but now that their poll numbers are lower than Bush's, some Republicans seem to think this means people are siding with Bush over the Democrats?

The Dem majority has been trying to pass legislation they were elected to pass, but it get blocked by the Republicans and Bush who still have a lot of power...do you really think the public is turning on the Democrats they just elected because they are too liberal?! What "liberal" legislation have they passed that you think the public is against? The public is mad because they aren't stopping the war...

The "logic" is that the Democrats wasted a lot of time on witch-hunting in the first year of their "landslide", and instead of trying to solve problems ( which they claimed they'd do ), they started in on Karl Rove, and others, passed non-binding resolutions ( WTH ???!!! ) to no good effect, and generally just wasted the publics time with endless potshots at the Administration, instead of actually trying to ACCOMPLISH anything worthwhile. They passed Minimum Wage increase ; what else have they really DONE?! Sure, the Republicans have blocked them, that's their right to do so.... so, why didn't the Democrats spend more time trying pass REAL legislation, and get the public mad at Republicans for blocking THAT, instead of endless worthless non-binding bills and items they knew the 'Pubs would veto or filibuster? No wonder their poll numbers are so low, they just wasted time making a show of "doing" something, while they did NOTHING. So they deserve the numbers they are getting, for being such bone-heads ( especially Harry Reid, Shmucky Schumer, and others ). May the Farce continue...and people will realize how empty the Democrats vault of useful ideas really is.

To answer your question;

Congress poll numbers are so low since Democrats were elected because Congress under Democrat control have failed to do the peoples business and instead are going after Rush Limbaugh and other matters not related to Congress. If as you claim its "the Republicans Fault" explain why Bush has a higher approval ratings in Reid's and Pelosi's home districts then they do.

Trying to say that congress approval ratings are so bad simply because they havent stopped the war is laughable.
In my point of view, we replaced one partially corrupt, big spending Congress, with an even MORE corrupt, big spending Congress that does even LESS for the American public than the last one did!
Thats why my opinion of them is so low. I dont hire Congress to bash Rush Limbaugh and play partisan games.. I hire them(With my Vote).... TO GET SOMETHING DONE and TO DO THEIR JOBS!
Simply put, the majority of the American public see them as lame ducks because they are NOT doing the job we all hired them to do. Partisan bickering, Politicizing the War, Voting for Bills they know Bush will Veto just to score points with the Partisan left wing of the party, wasting our money (See Nancy Pelosi's expendeture of 16 million dollars in tax dollars to BUY FLOWERS!)...Trying to shove illegal immigration down our throats in the form of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform".....
All of this(and more) adds up to one terribly inneficient, politically hamstrung Congress.
THUS... the approval ratings.

All they have done is send Bush bills they knew he would veto, isntead of everyone getting together to actually try to solve problems (that goes for all of congress, not just the Dems)
