what do you think of that? looks like their circulation was falling so bad that they had to wake up ans smell the coffee. Does this prove that papers/media are about selling papers than pushing an agenda? what do you think?

The NY Times has been hemorrhaging money for some time. You will see more balance come onto the op-ed page for that paper and others in order to attract more readers and subscribers. Of course the NY Time still has to live down its role in the "Boy! Did I Get It Wrong!" award for the 21st Century. They ran an op-ed piece entitled "The Declining Terrorist Threat" written by a former State Department counter-terrorism specialist named Larry C. Johnson. It was published on July 10, 2001!

I'm not sure I understand your point.

Newspapers have always been about selling newspapers. That's their business. The Times wants to have a wide range of columnists. I don't know if he's replacing someone, but Kristol is a bright guy who has had a variety of experiences in the political arena. He strikes me as an interesting choice.
