F.S. Trueman of England was the first bowler to take 300 test wickets. He achieved this feat on 13th August, 1964 at Oval against Australia.
However, the fastest to take 300 wickets was D.K. Lilee of Australia, who took 300 wickets in 56 test matches whereas Trueman took 300 wickets in 65 test matches.
