Check cables
Do you get a picture INITIALLY when you power PC on ? IF so could be it's using a resolution/frequency the monitor doesn't support.
Plug in old monitor to test, set resolution to 800x600 @ 50HZ
NOW try new monitor again, if same, could be faulty, take it back

try booting into safemode first and if its still the same thing then its somthing to do with the monitor settings on the unit itself or connections ..
