Take it from this Long Term Single Parent (who is the SURVIVOR of a Short Disaster of a Marriage to an Abusive, Violent Sociopath) ... and who raised ALONE (only on MY INCOME) TWO Disabled Children (and I was alone since they were toddlers) ...
THINK ... raising children is DIFFICULT under the best of circumstances .. and being a SINGLE PARENT ... wow ... I can say that it was definitely a CHALLENGE ... and I ended up sacrificing all for their care.
(My ADVICE ... get a Tubal Ligation (Tubes tied) and DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE CHILDREN!)
As far as getting Married -- get a Pre-Nup -- that way, what you HAVE EARNED on your own is PROTECTED ... and ... this way, IF the marriage is to fall apart -- it can at least allow you the freedom to KNOW (and peace of mind) that the EX will NOT be fleecing you for everything you HAVE (which is what he will do ... and it HAPPENED to ME).
I ... in retrospect .. should have REMAINED SINGLE ... and ... this is most important (since the children were conceived and born within that short marriage) ... NOT had children at all. Although I DO Love my children ... (and it is unconditional -- even though they betrayed me completely as young adults/teenagers) ...
I would have NOT had to experience the past 2 decades plus of TORMENT ... being Abused, being Burglarized, having NO Peace of mind, and yes, having SOME ability to care for the ONE person abused in the entire time ... and ...
That ONE person -- ME.

I don't know all the circumstances in order to help you decide but my first inclination would be to suggest that you wait until you get married before having more children.

why don't you just quit having kids and stay single. taking care of them should be your main priority.

It has been proven in studies that children turn out better when raised in a home with both a mother & father.
