Stress can cause you to miss or delay your period. So can taking certain medications, dieting, changes in weight, etc.
It doesn't work for all women it depends on each individual and how they handle stress.

Yes, that's true. If you're under a lot of stress (about anything, not just your period), that can cause it to be late. It's perfectly normal and has happened to me before. If you think about it all the time, it's very likely to be delayed.

A lot of other things can affect your cycle as well, like an illness, excessive exercise (which is why athletes don't have regular periods), changes in your daily routine, for example going on holiday, changes in your lifestyle and many other reasons. Stop worrying about your period and it'll come!

I think, in your mom's case, she may have been stressed over the delay of her period because it may indicate she is pregnant. If you are worried about the same thing, it could delay the onset of your period. I'd stress over a late period if I didn't want to be pregnant. My daughter in law wanted to be pregnant so badly that at times that delayed the onset. If there is no pregnancy worry, IE you have not had sex, because that is the only way to be sure you are not pregnant, then calm down. Your menses will come. If they don't, you need to schedule an appointment with a Gynecologist.

the only way it wont show up is if you are really stressed out and depressed and worried about something you cant change thats the only way it will not come take it from an experienced person i would go 3 to 6 months without having my period and i was happy but then again i wasnt cause i thought something was really wrong with me so you dont want that to happen to you

I think you friends mom was just a coincidence! when you keep worrying that its not coming it seems like a long time until it comes and you may feel like its never going to come! dont worry it will come! and if after a month or so it hasnt consult your doctor! it could be that you are just getting used to having a period and its irregular or something more severe. so just chill for a while!

Most definitely! I've had late and missed periods because I have been so stressed out over things.

Emotions can affect your period it's true. However, why not take a pregnancy test? They didn't have them when this used to happen to me. Why worry when you can find out for sure? I don't get it.

It could be stress, or it could just be you. I am very irregular, haven't had a period for nearly 6 months now. I go to the doctor, everything is fine I'm just irregular. But put your worries to ease, go see a doctor.

Yes, but there are a few other details that go with it. If you freak over your period AND you've been having unprotected sex, then yes, this can make you skip your period. Good luck with that ;)

It will come... Unless you're pregnant. It might just be a bit late. Don't worry yourself over it too much. Things will be ok.
