you have a loose connection.... find out what fuse controls the circuit thats going out and see if theres anything else on that circuit that stays on when the other part goes out. check the device the furthest away (that still works) from your panel. that would be a good starting point. Turn off power once you figured out where to look. Alot of older receptacles have holes in the back with a spring inside to hold the wires in place. This is a common place for a loose connection. Under a load the spring gets hot and loses its tensile strength causing a loose conection

It may be the power coming into your house, one leg may be dead. Call your local power company to check out the lines. It costs nothing and at least you could rule that out. I've had that happen before. If your not comfortable dealing with the fuse panel, don't play around. Call an electrician

i would start by checking that the lugs (screws) that hold the wires in place in your service box are tight. some where you have a loose connection
