Oh I'm split between Madonna or Beyonce.
Madonna dazzled us with her decade opening album Music (2000), American Life (2003) and Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005), and she's one of the 2008 inductees by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced last Dec. 13, 2007.
Beyonce meanwhile has this year's top US song with Irreplaceable (2007) aside from albums Dangerously in Love (2003) and B'Day (2006). If her 2008 album clicks, my vote's for Beyonce.

It's Justin Timberlake because along with being part of a multi-platinum selling group, once he went solo, he has been the most successful solo artist from N*Sync with two solo albums that have gone multi-platinum each. In addition to him being linked to the tabloids as "taking Britney's virginity" and being linked to Cameron Diaz is pretty big I'd have to say.

I don't think anyone has come quite to the point of a Michael Jackson in popularity since Michael. Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) probably comes close, but I really think she'll fade in a year and her music isn't really all the innovative. Michael Jackson and Thriller was extraordinary in it's time.
I wish Will Smith was still performing music - I thought he had great style.

Kelly Clarkson. She was originally marketed as a pop musician with her debut album Thankful (2003). With the release of her multi-platinum second album Breakaway (2004), Clarkson moved to a more pop rock-oriented style of music, and won two Grammy Awards. Clarkson's third album, entitled My December, was released on June 26, 2007. Clarkson has sold 16 million albums worldwide.

It's obvious it's Hannah Montana.
She's on a tour and almost all the tickets are sold out. They even play her new songs on 102.1 radio and stuff.
I mean really, everybody loves her show and they love her music, even though she's a country pop singer.
She is the successful pop singer.
But the 1 song of 2007 I heard, is Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie.
But Hannah Montana has a world tour and it's crazy and everybody's asking for tickets!

As much as I don't want to say it, it has to been Hannah Montana.
Even if you're not a fan, you gotta admit that this girl is pretty big. Huge actually. Both her CDs went straight to number 1, she sold out in every single city and her tickets fetched up for over $1,000, her TV show is the most popular one out there for preteen and teens, and who knows what more she'll do.
We all diss her and say she's horrible, but since people today don't really pay attention to the fact she's just another teeny pop singer, she's probably going to be the most successful one.

It depends on your definition of success. Maybe the one who has made the most money is also the most unhappy and on drugs. Maybe someone who hasn't made as much is grounded and loves his/her life. The word successful is the trick here, and it means different things to different people. So I guess it would be really hard to answer your question.

My geuss is Madonna but for a male pop singer I'm not really sure, maybe Josh Groban or Justin Timberlake. I don't know if Justin Timberlake counts a pop singer anymore though.
