1-3 is the normal amount. It really depends on the baby though.
Some babies gain most of their weight in the last month whereas other babies gain fairly evenly throughout the entire pregnancy.

It is about 1/4 lb. per week. So about 1 pound a month. Go to www.justmommies.com and put your due date in and it will give you a calendar and it tells what is happening every day of your pregnancy and how much your baby weighs every week. Congrats.

It varies. Some babies can gain up to a half pound per week in the last few weeks.

probably as much as they want because once they are born for the rest of their lives they have to "watch" their weight.
