It's rated R in the United States for a good reason. I don't remember any cussing, but there is enough violence that parents should be strongly cautioned about their kids seeing it. There is a lot of stabbing, slashing, and even a scene where someone's head falls off before your very eyes. It's got its fair share of blood too.
It's also a "man's film" in the sense that it's packed so full of testosterone, I'm surprised the DVD doesn't come with a pack of steroids or smell like gym shorts.

While the subject matter is geared towards men I don't think it is only a guys film, particularly if viewed from an artisitic POV. There were alot of great visuals in that film. I think that is really why the film was made, to see if they could recreate the graphics of the novel. Don't for a minute, however, view it as anything remotely close to historically accurate.

There are a couple of sex scenes in it, but the level of violence in the film make it "manly" (It is R rated)
Also, the number of buff bodies (and they are buff, no CGI, like in 'Beowulf') gives rise to the contention that it is a 'gay' film as well.
If you have a PG version, much of the film has been excised

It's quite bloody and gory, although much of that is CGI. It is based off of a graphic novel, so this should be taken into account when it comes to the Persian king--who did not, in fact, go to war in gold lame' Speedoes, body piercings, and sequins.
Aside from that, it's a pretty enjoyable reteling of the Battle of Thermopyle, and it is vusually stunning. But if you let your son see it, do explain to him that Darius was not as portrayed in this movie. Also, Spartans went to war in full armor, not in helms, cloaks, sandals, and leather Speedoes.

lt's an action film so it's more for men's. A lot of the blood and gore will ceratinly turn-off women but they will surely drool as they feast on the male protagonists' bodies. lol

It is sad to see a piece of History is taken by Hollywood and is made to joke and distort the Truth of those heroic people which nothing less that of the same people that attacked America today like (9-11)

I can't believe it's PG! Are we talking about the same movie? The 300? With all the blood and gore and the very sexy men with their 6packs... **drool**
Sorry... got side tracked... it is a man's movie b/c of all the fighting and whatnot and it's a woman's movie b/c of all the very sexy men... **drool** oops... side tracked again... anyway... not sure it's really fit for kids... It should be PG13 not PG.

I think it's rated R. Anyone who falls into that category can see it. I know many females saw it. It has violence from start to finish with some nudity & sex .

It definitely isn't for younger children. I think 13 year old can see it. It is very gory and kind of sexual but it is a really good movie and it is pretty informational.
