Of Having and Losing...

Having is possessing,
It is far from cherishing,
As cherishing often crawls
In the state of losing.

Losing entails fearing,
Of uncertainties,
Of wanting to have,
Of yearning to belong.

Losing is enriching,
It eradicates selfishness,
Yet invites selflessness,
Oft neglected when having.

Losing is suffering,
Suffocating so solemnly,
Reminding fellow mortals,
On the art of having.

With all due respect, it's a decent piece in a subtle essence, but is conflicting as well.

"WANT" is to covet, in hopes to possess. Often felt or accomplished by greed or Need.

Example. I, and you, "have" Air and Water, two very basic Needs. Do we "Have" them? Hopefully in order to survive. Do we WANT them? I think that answers itself it the same context. Covet? Sure. Lose them and the sceanrio is bleak.

"Cherish" however, often does Crawl, but not always in the one holding that "emotion." Losing is assumed, but out of context, until you tie it to the second segment. Beyond that,,,and just my opinion. to Cherish equates to another, not a "thing". To have emotional attachments to "Things", is a bit abstract. IE: "I Love My Car."

I'd drop the "OF's" and in the last line add "IN" yearning.

Here is some other conflict. If HAVING equates to possessiveness, then Losing might equate to Selfishness, but certainly can become selflessness, in some healing process. Obvously you cleaned that up a bit in the final line of those. Humility, for one,,, defines loss. Certainly in the process, enrichment can occur.

Yes, Loss can include suffering, and perhaps some sensation of suffocating, though I think just the opposite. "Even a breath drawn harshly on the throat, in a loss, might only cause us to pause in exhaling."

Finally, and again, no offenses meant: if having, is Possessiveness, as loss is to all else you describe, then what purpose is there in reminding us of Having, and certainly it is no ART form... More it's imprisonment, or subjegation of things, and/or others.

Giving and Taking

Giving is breathing
It is near to living
But living often steals
Dreams of the living

Taking implies scarcity
And doubts of security
Of wanting to be
Of yearning to be

Taking is enriching
Eradicating greed
Inviting death and poverty
Neglected while living

Giving is suffering
Suffocating and stolen
Reiterating truth
About the reality of being
