We purchased property in Florida and have owned it for a few years. We didn't put any housing on it for the first few years that we've owned it and now we are trying to.
We've been told there is a well on the property, but we can't find it. We have gone looking for property maps in hopes that we can locate the well but have had no luck.

We've also tried metal detecting but since the last owner buried metal things (like ladders and such) we've had problems finding it.

Does anyone know of a site or office that we can go to that will give us the information to where the well once was?
Thanks!

If it wasn't recorded on the property plat there's probably nothing that you can do.

Try calling around the well-drilling companies in the area and see if any of them recall drilling the well. If they did drill it they should have records of exactly where it is located.

Try the Florida Public Service Commission. In each state there is an agency that regulates this sort of thing. And in Florida that's probably it. If there is a well, the person who drilled it could be long gone by now.
