biggest can mean several things -- most covered in the news, most talked about, biggest impact to the world, etc..

i'll answer the latter. the thing that had the most impact on the world was probably something few people even know about. karl rove and alberto gonzales resigned. this marks the beginning of the end of the abysmal bush years
