If you are using the Windows Firewall go to Control Panel and switch it off there. If you are using a third-party firewall you should find an icon for it in the toolbar in the bottom right of the desktop; right-click on it for options. You will also find the firewall in the "all programs" list.

Do not turn off the firewall unless you can disconnected from the internet, there are few occasions when you will need to switch off your firewall so don't do it unless you really need to.
Why do you want to turn it off anyway?

On WinXP, starting from a click on the start button, follow this path:

Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Security Center

From there you can play around with the firewall settings and other security settings.
