It shows a lot of their personal lives (except for Page) and also that part in the middle with Plant rescuing the woman. Is there a point they are trying to get across or is it just bong wash?

The band were asked by the film makers to create little scenarios to reflect their personalities. Plant was strong and purposeful, Page the mystic, John Paul Jones the mysterious romantic and Bonham The down to earth realist. Peter Grant, Led Zep's manager even has his own little segment as a gangster. Pure 70's corniness and the stuff Spinal Tap was made of. Pretentious in the extreme.
