Probably for the same reason many English people have bought holiday homes in Scotland and Wales. They found house prices cheaper and decided it was a good investment.

Why are people from England buying up houses from all around europe? they are a lot cheaper than in England.

Because Ireland is awash with money.Land and houses are exorbitant prices here so they're investing elsewhere to make more from their money.Quite ironic really.
