The excuse I would accept would be, "I got stuck in a chimney, and then I couldn't get Rudolph out of low gear, there was a high wind over Albuquerque, Prancer threw a shoe in DeMoine, Mrs. Claus wouldn't let me out of bed, The elves went on strike, and I printed the list upside down so I had to go back and give everybody the right presents in reverse order, so you would have been first if I hadn't messed up, I'm sorry.

I'll look after poor impoverished Santa (he is very old, now) and give him gifts for a change. Would also rebuild his smashed parcel, so that he can continue with his sooooo sweet tradition! Gain his blessings, by treating him to delightful warm dishes and beverages and help him recover from the chilling wintry blasts...let him enjoy the warmth of the crackling fire in my favorite hearth, inside my home!
I would also feed and replenish his reindeer!
