A little help please..Mod signs included in inequalities. (I'll use ¦ as a mod sign)?

-10 > ¦2x +1¦+7

The answer is -2 so does that mean the +7 stays positive being taken over?

-10 > |2x+1| + 7
-17 > |2x+1|

This has no solution -- |anything| is always greater than or equal to zero, and so cannot be less than a negative number.
