Yes, I remember growing up in Portland, Maine. On the corner of Congress Street and ? street was a Walgreens, that was my anchor, if I could see it from where I was, I wasn't lost!

I can also remember when they sold alcohol. The last Walgreens to do so was in Dixon,Illinois. The Walgreen family has their own airstrip and second home in Dixon. They kept the alcohol there so they could "buy" from themselves.

yes, I do. The one in the Michigan Avenue location was called "Wag's" (as in witty) for awhile.

I also fondly remember going to the one at Lincoln and Lawrence w/ my grandmother, and having chocolate phosphates (soda water w/ chocolate sauce) which was a real treat for her - probably as much for getting out of the house and away from my grandfather as for the drink.
