Pay your savings before you pay anything. Prepare to retire or at least slow down early enough to do the fun things you put off doing now. If you wait to late your health and your mates health may keep you from doing those things period.
Care for your teeth! At 40 begin yearly health exams. Colonist at 50.
Raise your kids to be sufficient and if they are not let them know you MUST cut their support off to ensure your survival.

Katydid said "get your finances in order" . Take that
advice to heart.
Get advice on arriving at an answer to this question:
How much money will I need in 20 years so that I am
financially independent?
Factor in every reasonable possible demand on your
finances. Add a 15% margin of safety.
Then drive toward that goal.
Believe me, if you achieve financial independence,
then you are in control of your own destiny.

Invest your money- check with Mister Ed he's very bright on the money issues. Enjoy each day- you may not make it to senior life- hopefully you will but it's so sad to see so many spend their life planning to have fun when they retire and they never get to reach that dream. So invest, and have fun.

Start taking better care of your health and your teeth. Get a good financial plan started. Don't touch your retirement money for anything!!! Teach your children to be completely independent. As much as you love them you still don't want them coming home over and over, draining you dry. I didn't, I should have, apparently not, and they did.

Yes...getting your finances sorted for the future is essential. I see people around me..same age..same start in life..who didn't and they are barely managing to survive. You don't need other plans for old age...you sort of gradually grow into it.

Know that life will continue to surprise you. Sometimes those surprises will delight you, other times they will devastate you. Just be prepared.
Get your finances in order. Tell those you love how you feel, and find your passion. Once you find your passion and are able to put your energy into it, you'll likely find happiness. Good luck!

Save all you can in some type of 401k. And, take care of your health. You only have one body, and there are no second chances to do the right thing.
