People are the way they are because of the experiences they have in life and how they deal with it. If something traumatic happens a person will change from maybe a person having fun in life to a very depressed and lonely person.

Or if a person wins the lottery they can change from being very giving to being very greedy also for friends of the person that wins the lottery the one moment they don't need a thing and the other moment they will visit every day.

It's all based on life experience and the things that happen to you and the things you choose to do.

This looks like a nature vs nurture question.

A person's character and behavior is influenced by genetic predispositions towards certain behaviors or attitudes and his life experiences. This includes the influence of parents, family members, birth order, friends, pets, childhood experiences, education, social and fiscal opportunities and personal decisions.

I think it it partly your up bringing and partly the things you have had in your life to over come that makes you the person you are as well as the star sign although I feel that is only a very small part, life experience curves you into the person you eventually become although all though life you change. things that hurt you makes you understand how they feel so you try not to have them happen again for example and try not to do them to others. just my thoughts any way

Your parents shape your mind from a young age. Most things you do directly relate to them. If you goto college was it cuz your parents wanted you to? Because you wanted to get away from them? make them proud? show them you don't need them?

Its the same in relate to people. Some people may never be able to settle into a relationship because their parents had a volatile marriage. Or they might be clingy with their lover because they had issues with feeling loved by thier parents.

I see it in alot of my friend and their en devours in life. I can see that whom ever took care of you as a child built your mind to some extent.

I don't know what you mean. People are people because of their inherited traits as well as their life experiences. The way we see people is also dependent on our genetic predispositions as well our life experiences. Our interaction with people is a result of both ours and their nature and nurture. How much is nature and how much is nurture is still being disputed by scientists.

People are how they are in a mixture of "nature" i.e. inherited characteristics, genetic factors, and gender/race which amount for about 30% of their "personality".
Nurture, the way you are brought up, your response to your environment and your own feelings and desires, amount for the rest.

There are two principal factors: Genes and environment. You cannot change your genes but you can do something the environment. This includes your physical environment (residence location, the food you eat, your workplace) and your social environment ( family, friends, work associates, your leisure activities, etc.)

personality and the way you are raised and how you perceive things...your family has instilled some values in you but you are your own person so that has to play a role also..i think you could even throw a little society in there...the world around us..even though we don't want to believe it does play a small part in who we are..

part of it is hereditary, a LOT of it is parenting. Your childhood tribulations generally lead you to be the person you grow into. With a little of you parents tendencies thrown in. example: If childhood sucked, you're probably gonna be strong, yet bitter.
