It was issued to a Relative after Normandy invasion of WW II by the Govenor of Nevada. I'm just wondering. I have no intensions of parting with it.

The worth of a particular coin is usually determined with the condition it is in. Do not clean that 1928 Peace Dollar coz it will diminish the value of your coin. Have it appraised first by the coin dealer or the nearest Numismatic Association near your place. You can get a copy of the book series of Dummies for Coin Collecting or try out the www.uscoins.com.

Sound like it's historic value will far exceed its monetary one. the coin in grade very good has a value around $25 and as the grades get better so does the value. In almost uncirculated it is worth around $49. In low mint state grade $115 and in higher mint state $400. The values given are about what a dealer would pay. You will need to have the coin graded. A dealer can or if there is a coin club near buy they can. If you go to a dealer try more than one. A good dealer will grade it for you for free. I would never sell it either, it is a pass down family item.
