Your child will thank you for sticking to your guns. Your baby - YOUR choice of name.
Just tell her firmly it is too old fashioned for you.

What is a MIL and what is a FIL and you use whatever name you like as long as it is not for illegal purposes. Nobody can force you to use a name you don't want to use.
Oh I see its Mother in Law and I assume Father in Law, why not say so. My answer still stands . Just say sorry don't like the name

I think that you should name the boy whatever your little heart wants it to be. Why is she so pushy about having the boy named Abraham anyways is is a family name handed down for generations? Cause if so then is that your husbands name also?

What name do you like?

Like many have said before she can't make you name it anything that is yours and your husbands choice completely.

Make your feelings perfectly clear to your husband. If he agrees with you, then drop the subject when ever you are around the MIL. Don't engage in a battle over this. If it comes to a head, it is your husband's job to step up and state that "we" have named our son ***********, and leave it at that. The less said by you, the better. Sounds like you have a MIL that wants control over her boy and you. The more adult-like you are, the less power she will have over both of you. Good Luck. Keep your chin up!

UM... unless you both a living in her house, she is paying all the bills, and you both are under the age of 18, tell MIL that her suggestion is really nice, BUT you have chosen the childs name already - thanks awyway.

Maybe MIL should buy herself a cute little snappy dog and name HIM Abraham.

I would not mention it and just proudly announce the name you have chosen. If they have such poor manners as to question why you did not use FIL's name, I would just be honest--say you liked the other name more. You don't have to say that you didn't LIKE FIL's name, just say that you preferred the name you chose. Stick to your guns. ABRAHAM! Yuck! Your kid will thank you!

LOL...she is trying to "force you to use your FIL name"? How in the heck is she going to do that? Hold a gun to your head? I wouldn't let ANYONE tell me what name to use...that is entirely up to you and your husband...

I would say, it's a decision between the two of us, thank you for your input, we will discuss it, end of story. And your husband needs to back up this statement.

youre pushing the baby out of your body....its your decision not hers...and if she doesnt like it...she doesnt have to come around the baby...its her loss. Make your husband tell her...he needs to deal with this situation.

Tell her no and name your son whatever you two want. She can't force you to do anything.
