Well it was supposed to be a fairy tale aimed at the ten year old crowd. George Lucus made it because in the seventies he felt like the movies were becoming too grey in their depictions of hereos and villians, and that there were no real hereos in cinema for children to look up too. So he made Star Wars as a way to give to children and the world back the ideas of heroism he grew up with as a child.
