Gold is a very soft metal and frequently bends under pressure. The more pure the gold the more it will bend. However, being a soft metal doesn't guarantee that your chain is gold. Other metals than gold can bend. You should look for the hallmark on your chain which will tell you if it is gold and what karat it is.

Real gold is soft and pliable compared to fool's gold so biting it is a big indicator to whether it's the real deal or not.

Gold is a very soft metal. You can actually leave a mark in it with your teeth if it is real. If it is not, you wont' be able leave a mark as making a metal soft enough to isn't easy enough to bother.
