I have a 7yr. old Hoover washer/drier which has just started to make an awful racket on the spin cycle, it sound like boots are inside the machine. It was moved recently when a plumber was connecting mains through to bathroom. Can anyone advise me what to do to rectify. Money short due to Christmas so don't want to call in anyone to help.

There is not very much that you can do, but you can check this. Make sure that the dryer is unplugged, then remove the cover on the back of the dryer, then there are some plastic or rubber guides that hold the tumbler in place in the center, make sure that it has all of the guides that it is supposed to, and that they havent turned away from the tumbler or that they are not crooked, if they are out of place, simply put the missing one back in place like the others that are in place.

Out there? No, you need someone mechanically inclined who is nearby. I may be good but even I can't fix machinery over the internet.

I can hazard a guess as to what your problem might be though. There are linkages inside that steady the tub as it spins. When the machine was moved one of them may have broken or come loose. Somebody needs to open it up and take a look.

DUH! And leveling. Always check the obvious stuff first.

We do both plumbing and electrical work but have never worked on one of those combo machines. You need an appliance repair person to answer your question. It sounds like a broken belt. Do not use it until it is fixed or you could do more damage to it.

I just read Angela's answer and hopefully that is all that is wrong! Good luck!

Since it's been moved are you sure it's level in it's new position?

If not then it will start to vibrate at speed.

It should have little adjustable feet in each corner, try checking it with a spirit level.
