Use KILZ primer first then any kind of paint. I prefer semi gloss because you can wash it down it is water repellent! Good Luck!

You need a primer/sealer such as the brands mentioned above. These seal the stain in so it will not bleed through your final coat of paint.

A primer of latex base not oil ,Zinsser is a very good brand to use if not use killz 2, which is latex base.Then you can top coat with anything.
