My question might seem weird but it is something I really need to know. I need to know hoe people value u, respect u and listen to u when u talk. I mean if u r chosen as a leader of a club or sports or anything.....without me working the guts off....how can i work as a team? I mean i don't want to work myself....i want the whole team to work with me. I want everyone to get the fame. Also I want everyone to give me respect and have a value.
I want people to see that I don't just work if they tell me to....I have a value. I don't know how to describe it. But i am not saying it to be mean........but I am chosen as a leader for this one club and I need to work with everyone. I also want them to listen to me and work as a team. They all voted me to be the president of the club so how can i be a good role model to them. It is a youth club. Teenage club. where we do a lot of stuff together. Also...I need to know is it really worth doing? Is it woth being the leader. why did they pick me as their president when I am not even the oldest in that club??????ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh help me.

One is chosen for many reasons-- you're viewed as a leader and are respected, and/or regardless of your age, your seen as a worker bee and someone who will pick up the slack when others won't, and/or people will listen to you, and/or others know they can rely/dump on you and you'll do the work.... the list of reasons is endless and it doesn't really matter now. You accepted the role I presume, so now the work begins.

Solution- in your 1st or next meeting, pull out a sheet of paper and write down what all of the tasks and objectives of the group are. Describe each in some detail and then attach the name of at person will be responsible for accomplishing or making sure one objective/'task is completed. Do this for every task. At every meeting, review the decisions and see what has been accomplished, what wasn't, what barriers or problems caused a task/objective to not be accomplished and then develop a solution for how to accomplish the objective or whether to refine or scrap it. never stray from yo9ur meeting minutes. Others will not like or approve of this; however, this is a team effort, not a one-man show and if everyone is to benefit from the outcome, then everyone must participate in actions and not just words.

Remember, the leader leads, he does not do all of the work! Read up, study on leadership thinking as others here will soon suggest by giving you sites to visit. And remember, it better to be a lion for a year than a lamb for 10 years!

Its worth being the leader because the experience you are going to get can't be bought. Ask for everyone's opinions on decisions you must make, and go with the majority. When there is no majority, do what you think is best for the whole group. Do expect to take some criticism. You can't please everyone, and you're going to make mistakes. Like I said, this will be a great experience for you that you will take with you for the rest of your life.

Leadership is a responsibility to direct, encourage, and monitor the behavior of others in actions intended to meet set objectives. It is a compliment for you to be selected. A leader sets the example and has additional responsibilities. May I suggest that you read some of the information linked below. Best wishes.
