I just know that it is recommended that women have a waist circumference less than 35 inches. Any more than that indicates a propensity for heart disease. I don't think the waist to hip ratio is fair because some women were born with wide hips and there's nothing they can do about it, and some women's hips get wider during pregnancy and stay that way after childbirth.

Ideal: That the waist is smaller than the hips and you should be good.
In male terms: 12 inches less
In woman terms: 10 inches less than hips
In Reality terms: 8 inches
If you feel good about yourself thats the Ideal Ratio so aim for that perfection.

hips 10-12 inches larger than hips (ex. 28" waist, 39" hips) However, my hips are much larger than my waist (28" waist 44" hips). It just means I can't shop in the juniors department for pants

As a man, I prefer the waist to be smaller than the hips. After that, it's all good. :)
