I am so disconnected from my own feelings I generally can not tell what I am feeling. I know I am feeling something but I can not identify the emotion. I can not afford proffessional help or whatever. Any suggestions please?

Thank you.

I had this problem when I was younger and starting a journal can really help. Spend some time each day (in the evening is good) and don't write about facts but your feelings. It will help you begin to recognize what your mind is doing. Sometimes we disconnect for a reason, so if you can figure that out you are on your way to being on track.

Also, getting enough sleep and a balanced diet will help your mood. Start a moderate exercise program as well (walking for 30 minutes a day is good unless you have some physical limitations).

Invest in yourself and remember you can always, ALWAYS, count on you. Get to know the inner you!

Your guarded. Your body has built up a natural defense system to stop you feeling pain or hurt. You are full of frustration, negativity and conflicting emotion. Have you been hurt badly in the past? something in your childhood, parents divorce, affair, younger sibling being born can all make us feel neglected. Perhaps it is just you are oversensitive to everyday issuesTry to open up more, raise your self-steem. Take hobbies and interests that will make you feel good about yourself. When you are more sociable and mixing with people you will feel this shield ease away. Take relaxation classes like yoga, so you are not so tense. get a massage! although i would recommend therapy to maybe bring more deeper issues to the surface. good luck.

One of the best way to find out how you are feeling is self-therapy and that he should find an outlet to express his emotions on what happens to him daily...writing is the best,,,,,,,,,,write a daily journal wherein you can reflect the feelings that you have, and once you can empty yourself then you would feel you are tracing now your own real emotions..then if there is a need for a professional help , then see a Psychologist or Psychiatrist maybe/.....cheer up..you will be ok!

Talk with a very good friend, school consular, parents or relative, ect..... try a self help book. Go for a quite walk on the beach or in the woods.. realize life really isn't all that bad and focus on the positive...I sure you have alot to offer to the world and others... Remember "to the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world....

You are confused. You probably have some complexed emotions. Try to tell yourself do you feel like that all the time, about everything or just sometimes, when it comes to certain things. if it's all the time, you may be depressed. then you have to try and get out of it. DO STUFF YOU KNOW THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY. and if it's just about certain things or certain people, then start dealing with it. Intuitively you know what you want, so just start doing it.

Start writing it down, with a keyboard or a pen and paper. It won't take long for what's really going on inside of you to come out, and then you can post another question and tell us what it is and we can help some more.

Why do you feel like you have to label your emotions? Would it change them if you could identify them? Don't try so hard. Just do things that make you feel better.

when i went to therapy, my counselor told me to keep a journal of everything that happened in a day. then write down how you think you should feel. next i would discuss it with a personal friend and come back to her the next week and discuss everything with her. there are books out there you can buy that will help you as well. self-help journals, i suppose that is what they are called.
