a person in our family has four children, now her children have all grown up, they are in their teens and early 30's. Her children have done well for themselves, however when her children where young her husband refused to go out there and support his wife and kids.
So this person in our family did what she thought was best and went to the agency that helps women/mother's --- and claimed that her husband did not live with her..BUT he was living with her just that all his mail was being diverted to his mom's house in order to validate the lie that he did not live with her. They never caught on to her scheme..however..She for many years recieved compensation from 'mother's allowance' and was able to pay rent and get money for her bills.
Now do you call this stealing and why has karma not got back at her..since it seems that she got away with this kind of fraud..does this mean that God has forgiveness because it was an act that was done in order
to support her kids?

The bible also says judge not lest ye be judged.

You know in the old days, a woman would have to prostitute herself in order to put food into her children's mouth.

What would the alternative have been for this woman?

Frankly she should have kicked the friggin bum out. She would have gotten just as much money if she did.

So although I don't condone what she did, it's a crime as well as a sin, you must also consider her motives. I imagine she lived in desperate circumstances and had great guilt and fear the whole time too, worrying about the day she might get caught. Couldn't have been a pleasant life.

I know people who know how to milk the system and do it without conscience. Any opportunity to sue they take full advantage. They learned that from their relatives in the States. As a result they, and their grown children, live like kings and queens, and the kids all learned to milk the system really well too.

I do not have any respect or admiration whatsoever for people like that, even though they are "like family". I loathe them and all they stand for.

But I do believe in karma. It may not be evident or apparent to you but they will pay the piper, perhaps they've been paying all along. You don't really know what goes on behind closed doors.

The sad part is a lot of people these days do stuff like that. They think it's okay to rip off the system. They don't get that they ARE the system, and that one day the kids they brought into this world will have to live much worse off than them, because they BROKE the system and ruined it for everyone.

I worked since I was 11 with over 30 years of my earnings into the pension plan. Do you know how it urps me when I hear people say there won't be any money left for me to earn the money I am entitled to and worked for, because government felt it was ok to give full pensions to immigrants who came and put 10 years of work into the system and are living off of MY (and your) pension???? That is not fair. I believe they changed that now, but enough people are living off that who never had any entitlement to that pension as far as I'm concerned.

Life is fair though....it screws us all one way or another.

This is a command against taking anything that does not belong to us without the permission of the person to whom it belongs. We steal when we cheat the government. We steal if someone makes a mistake on our invoice in our favour and we fail to return the money.

Well, I don't consider it stealing, but it is definitely lying, and that is just as bad. Frankly, if this man was doing nothing but sitting around, using up the welfare money she was getting under false pretenses, I don't understand why she wouldn't kick him out for real...then she would have at least been honest.

stealing is stealing no matter what the situation. people who pray to God and ask for his forgiveness, as well as those who allow him into their heart, will go to heaven despite their sins. At least, that's how my religion believes in it.

Yes it is stealing, but we serve a compassionate God who knows desperation.

Um, you can't very well be outraged about a crime you failed to report.
