Me and my bf are not Indians and not living in India, but we want to get married there under the special marriage act. As I understood one of us has to live in India 30 days before we can apply for getting married. Is it possible to hire an agent or lawyer to do the paperwork for us? So that we can just go and get married asap and get the certificate of marriage. What are the possible options to get it done asap but still end up having a legally valid marriage certificate.

I don't live in India at the moment, so place of getting married is not important, all depends where things are the easiest to arrange. Yes I thought getting a good lawyer is a must, but where do I find such a person? Or an agent who deals all the papers instead of me. I've heard that people have given bribe to lawyer or agent to fasten things up. Anyone having personal experience there and willing to share?

Yes, you can marry according to civil form of marriage in India, provided you are both present at the time of giving one months notice for such marriage, wait for one month & then get married & get a valid marriage certificate of such marriage. As far evidence for the stay of one month prior to giving such notice in the district where such marriage has to be preformed can be procured. Contact me on my email for detailed discussion & such marriage etc. vijay_mahajan5758@yahoo.co.in

go to a good lawyer and clear the matters legally... its much better for you once you return back to your own country// check twice if the lawyer is a good one and marry in the court and check the papers well once all done.Which city you are in?? may be i can guide better?
