Do a careful audit of what people would need in the area where you live, ask friends & have them ask friends etc. Is there something people would need or want that isn't on every corner? In order to succeed you need a niche not filled already. Like in my town we really needed an outdoor cafe where people could just congregate and eat and be leisurely--there just wasn't one around. But no capital to start one. So something like that--what is something you could provide that some one can't, or provide in a better setting, or cheaper etc.

I was in the same boat as you about 10 years ago. I did a lot of introspection and work to figure out what it is I enjoy doing that I can turn into a business or use the skills in a business.
I found something that fit the bill -- exactly -- about a year after I did the exercises. You'll find information on the process I used at

Finding something you like to sell is tough - finding something that sells well is even tougher.
I tried something I liked but didnt make very much money.
I started selling something that everyone has to have that can offset the costs of the other things I like to do!
